Produced by Michael Schenker and Michael Voss, the new album marks the 50th anniversary of Schenker's tenure with UFO, spanning from 1972 to 1978. Touring the globe as a teenager, Schenker became a driving force behind some of UFO's most beloved tracks, such as “Doctor Doctor”, “Rock Bottom”, and “Only You Can Rock Me”. During these meteoric years, the UFO albums 'Phenomenon,' 'Force It,' 'No Heavy Petting,' 'Lights Out,' 'Obsession,' and the seminal live album 'Strangers in the Night' were released, each contributing significantly to the genre.

Now, Michael Schenker is set to celebrate those glory days with his new album, 'My Years with UFO,' alongside today’s rock elite.

The new album presents 11 of UFO's greatest hits from that era with an impressive lineup of guest stars. Joining Schenker on this journey are Derek Sherinian on keys, Brian Tichy on drums, and Barry Sparks on bass.

    ...is what I first thought when I heard the news of this release. These are classic songs by one of the greatest bands ever. How could they be improved upon? Well, they can't. It is a worthy release however. All guest do a fine job. In particular I love Joe Lynn Turner doing Doctor, Doctor and Too Hot To Handle. Eric Gronwall absolutely kills on Mother Mary. Steven Pearcy...Why? The booklet is nice with the ever narcissistic Mr. Schenker listing his accomplishments during the 70's. He claims to have written most of the songs during his time with UFO. Maybe the music but the lyrics are 100% Phil Mogg. I really wish he would acknowledge what a poet Phil is. None of his many singers over the years comes close to the magic that Phil Mogg has with words.

    This is an interesting release. Michael playing like a demon through classic UFO songs he wrote with various guest artists. Dee Snider kicks off with a superb rendition of Natural Thing, before Joey Tempest (Europe) takes over on Only You Can Rock Me. Shows the esteem Michael is held I when he can get Slash to contribute guitar on Mother Mary. Each vocalist adds their own to each song such as Axl Rose on Love To Love, not what one have thought was a natural choice, but it works. A classic release and at under £9, who can complain.
